Jets News · Adams Medical Group to Offer Saturday Morning Sports Physicals in Preparation for Upcoming School Year

*** Any Adams Central student/athlete in grades 6-12 wanting to participate in a sport in the 2021-22 school year, must have a physical on file by June 30, 2021. ***

Adams Medical Group (AMG) will be offering convenient Saturday morning appointments for annual adolescent wellness exams/sports physicals from 8am-Noon during the months of May, June, July, and August. Parents are encouraged to call 1-833-724-DOCS (3627) to schedule with an AMG provider as Saturday time slots are limited. In addition to Saturday morning appointments, wellness exams can be scheduled during the week or any time during the year as needed.

The wellness exam allows providers to spend more time with athletes focusing on all aspects of their health.  It provides the athlete with a more thorough examination, checks for abnormalities that most teenagers don’t look for, and teaches the importance of regular self-screening, opens the door to safe and confidential conversations about social and mental challenges that teens face, and allows the opportunity to update vaccinations.  The exam provides the opportunity to discuss the importance of healthy lifestyle choices and habits to carry with them throughout their teenage years and beyond.

The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) physical form will also be completed as part of the wellness visit if needed. The completed IHSAA form will be returned to the athlete or the athlete’s parent/guardian to turn into their respective school athletic departments to ensure eligibility to participate in athletics. Most insurance plans cover wellness exams with no co-pay, while delivering the best medical care for adolescent patients/athletes. If your child/athlete does not have health insurance, please let your provider, or school athletic director know and Adams Medical Group will work to facilitate this gold standard of care regardless of insurance coverage as it is Adams Memorial Hospital’s priority to improve adolescent health in our community.
