Churubusco Almost Erases 8-Run Deficit In Loss To JETS
JETS built an eight-run lead in the second inning and then held off Churubusco’s charge for an 8-6 victory on Tuesday. Churubusco scored six runs in the failed comeback on a single by B Trostel in the fourth, a in the fourth, a walk by G Richards in the fourth, a single by B Gordon in the fourth, a passed ball during P Sturtz’s at bat in the fourth, and a single by L McClure in the fifth.
Churubusco scored five runs in the fourth inning, but JETS still managed to pull out the victory. Churubusco offense in the inning was led by Trostel, McClure, Richards, Gordon, and Sturtz, all driving in runs in the inning.
JETS got things moving in the first inning, when Kevin Brown grounded out, scoring one run.
JETS scored four runs in the second inning. JETS big bats were led by Jalen Hammond, Brown, Colton Yergler, and Chase Peterson, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Nathan Maldeney pitched JETS to victory. He went three and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on five hits, striking out two and walking one. Lucas Van De Weg, Jaxson Rinkenberger, and Chase Murray all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Van De Weg recorded the last five outs to earn the save for JETS.
Richards took the loss for Churubusco. He surrendered eight runs on seven hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking zero.
Hammond went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead JETS in hits.
Churubusco tallied nine hits on the day. Trostel, McClure, and A Koontz all managed multiple hits for Churubusco.
