4-Hit Day For Bates As JETS Skirts Past Parkway
Four hits from Parker Bates helped lead JETS past Parkway 11-5 on Monday. Bates doubled in the third, doubled in the fourth, singled in the fifth, and singled in the sixth.
In the first inning, Parkway got their offense started when Nick Riley homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
After Parkway scored two runs in the top of the fifth, JETS answered with two of their own. Parkway scored when Breyden Bruns doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. JETS then answered when Jalen Hammond drew a walk, scoring one run and Kevin Brown grounded out, scoring one run.
JETS pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Dalton Gerber doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Bates doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, Hammond doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Colton Yergler drew a walk, scoring one run.
Gerber was on the mound for JETS. He went three innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out two.
Justan Felver led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Parkway. He lasted three and a third innings, allowing eight hits and six runs while striking out two. Noah Riley and Corey Walls entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one inning respectively.
JETS tallied 13 hits on the day. Bates, Hammond, and Gerber each had multiple hits for JETS. Bates led JETS with four hits in five at bats.
Bruns went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Parkway in hits.
