Fremont Defeats Resilient Jets
Jets’s effort to come back from down five runs in the third inning came up just short, as they fell 8-7 to Fremont on Wednesday. Jets scored four runs in the failed comeback on a groundout by Nick Neuenschwander in the fourth, a single by Chase Murray in the fourth, and a home run by Blake Heyerly in the fifth.
Jets fell behind early in the loss. Fremont scored on a walk by Evan Towns, a single by Kam Colclasure, a walk by Ethan Bock, a walk by Gabel Pentecost, a passed ball during Nick Miller’s at bat, and a walk by Jaden Zuccolotto in the second inning.
Fremont pulled away for good with six runs in the second inning. In the second Towns drew a walk, scoring one run, Colclasure singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, Bock drew a walk, scoring one run, Pentecost drew a walk, scoring one run, and Zuccolotto drew a walk, scoring one run.
Pentecost took the win for Fremont. The fireballer went four innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, striking out eight and walking zero. Towns threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Jaren Hildebrand took the loss for Jets. The righthander lasted one and one-third innings, allowing three hits and six runs while striking out two.
Jets hit one home run on the day. Heyerly had a homer in the fifth inning.
Heyerly led Jets with four hits in four at bats.
Bock went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Fremont in hits.
