The Jets got up early this weekend to make the trip to Concord High School for an invite with several strong programs.
Round 1 vs Westview
AC started the day with a 3-2 win against Westview. Lucas Harvey was the first victor for the Jets winning in straight sets at 3 singles. Cameron Burkhart was next, also winning in straight sets. Suspense built as both Jaxson Rinkenberger and the 1 doubles duo of Lucas Van De Weg and Nathan Maldeny split sets to start, leading to a 10 point tie-breaker which served as the 3rd set. Both Jaxson and 1 dubs lost in the tie-breakers as 2 doubles were heading into their own 10-point breaker. Malakai Moore and Kane Clark were able to finish strong and clinch the win for the Jets.
Round 2 vs Concord
The Jets played the (then) #21 ranked Concord team in the semi-finals. Cam, Lucas, and 2 Doubles all pushed their opponents to very tight matches. Cam split sets with a Concord’s senior 2 singles player, and eventually lost 9-11 in the 3rd set breaker. 2 Doubles also lost a close match, losing 5-7 and then in a second set tie breaker. Jaxson, Lucas, and 1 Doubles also lost in straight sets, though scores were tight all around. Concord went on to win the championship against Penn 4-1.
Round 3 vs Valparaiso
In the third match of the day, AC lost 1-4 to another solid team in Valpo, with the only victor being Cameron in straight sets. All matches were tight again, with 1 doubles losing the second set in a tie-breaker.
